Jung & Walker
What started out as two high school friends bottling their homemade pepper sauce in old ketchup bottles for themselves and to give to friends has morphed into the opportunity to share their creation with the rest of the hot sauce loving world.
Born to Jamaican parents, Jason was eating hot sauce as early as he can recall. He remembers his parents fridge stocked with multiple varieties of “peppah” and that the pantry always had other varieties that his mother had picked up in her travels.
Every trip to Jamaica his parents would bring back fresh scotch bonnet peppers in brown paper bags and a plethora of different hot pepper sauces to provide the “sweating hiccups.”
2 years ago after a trip to the “yard” as Jamaica is referred to by residents, Jason brought back a couple pounds of scotchies for Ryan to experiment with, and their Caribbean Mango Pepper Sauce was born.
Ryan, no stranger to the cooking industry has been working in and running kitchens for the past 10 years since he moved to Alberta. His knowledge and appreciation of the difference fresh ingredients make is the secret behind the boys pepper sauce.
It was his vision that pepper sauce should not only be hot, but be delicious and not just “red vinegar” that led to continual changes in their recipe. It was after a year and a half that the boys decided they had a winner. Late nights in the kitchen lamenting about how much more of this to add and what to cut back on has resulted in a sauce that people of all culinary backgrounds can enjoy. Not too hot, not too sweet just the perfect combination that is guaranteed to have your taste buds begging for more.
Made with all natural, fresh ingredients, and lacking any chemical preservatives, this is a sauce that the health concious can enjoy without worrying about an ingredient list with 20 letter words no one can pronounce.
Neither of the boys who grew up in Nova Scotia thought they would be in the hot sauce business when they got older, however, neither are denying that they think their hot sauce is the best sauce available today.
They hope you enjoy eating it as much as they have enjoyed creating it.
Bon Apetit!!!
